Ukiyo-e collages

These collages are were inspired by the Ukiyo-e wood block prints of the 19th century artists Hiroshige and Hokusai.  The idea of the "floating World" was very interesting to me, and I tried to capture a sense of worlds in motion, in which color and form could create a sense of narrative, despite being disconnected from a recognizable form. The images here are all derived from specific woodblock prints or my own photographs of the landscapes I have traveled through.
